Michigan Bird and Game Breeders Association
Club Updates

Feb. 1, 2010

Congratulations to Kenneth Opelewski from Metamora.  He is the big winner in
our contest to get your membership in and paid for before the end of the year.  He
has already paid for 2010—therefore he will receive his 2011 membership for free.
Thank you to all of you who got their memberships in early.  It really does help with
the postage cost.

I am happy to say that we had a wonderful Christmas Party at Big Boy in
Charlotte MI on Dec. 5.  It was a lot of fun to talk with the directors and other
officers.  We discussed a lot of different issues and we feel confident that 2010 will be
better than ever for MBGBA.

Bill and Sandy Councell took the time to pull together a lot of interesting
information concerning the cost of running the club.  Please take time to review the
information that we have included in this issue.  I think it might help to answer some
questions.

I am also happy to announce that there will be five swaps for the 2010 season.
We (the directors, officers and myself) heard from a lot of members about wanting to
keep the new swap.  Because several of you stepped up and offered your help, we feel
that the club will be able to run five swaps again this year.

We also decided to try and make things a little easier concerning the
newsletters.  I know there has been confusion as to when ads are due, and when the
newsletters will be out.  Therefore, we decided to have six newsletters per year to be
sent out the first of every other month (Feb., April, June, Aug., Oct., and Dec.).  This
means that all advertising will be due on the 15th of the month prior to printing.  For
example: An ad for the Feb. issue would need to be sent to Nancy by Jan. 15th.  That
will give us two weeks to put the newsletter together, have it printed, and drop it off
at the post office by the first.  Hopefully this will make things easier for everybody.

On another positive note — Angie Rezmer has agreed to start taking over the
editor job of the newsletter. During this year, Sandy, Angie, and Lori (Secretary) will
be working together to ensure that the transition of writing, editing, printing and
mailing out the newsletters goes as smooth as possible.  As you well know—Sandy
Councell has worked at this position for a very long time.  We will miss you—but wish
you the best of luck.

As always—if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me
or a director in your area.

Sincerely,

Jeff Hedrick
